Who We Are

Chartered in April 1950, AFSCME Local 34 is a union of over 2,500 Hennepin County social services workers who ensure Hennepin County residents have their basic needs met. This includes our:

• Medical and dental assistants who ensure our residents stay healthy.
• Human Services Representatives who ensure our children are cared for and our residents fed, sheltered, buried, and able to afford healthcare.
• Social workers who connect older adults and people with disabilities with services to live with dignity, care for the well-being of children, as well as respond to mental health crises .
• Child Support Specialists who ensure residents pay and receive their child support payments.

Our General Assembly meetings occur on the first Wednesday of every month at 5:30pm and are open to all members. They are held by Zoom, as well as in our office at the United Labor Center, 312 Central Ave, Ste 516.
