AFSCME Local 34 is a union of over 2,500 Hennepin County social services workers. AFSCME Local 34 was chartered in April 1950.
Our General Assembly meetings, open to all members, take place on the first Wednesday of every month at the Health Services Building, Room 110, 5:30 PM. General Assemblies are the opportunity Local 34’s Executive Board consists of a President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Senior Chief Steward, Junior Chief Steward, Recording Secretary, Membership Secretary, Treasurer, Sergeant At Arms and six (6) Members At Large. Terms are two years long, with half of the seats up for election each year. Elections take place in April and officers begin their terms on May 1st. Vacancies are filled by special election of the Executive Board.
